Welcome to the Teesside Noggin
I vaguely remember joining the RSSOC in 1999 when I bought my first Scimitar SE6a. I immediately joined the two available clubs, the RSSOC and Scimitar Drivers Club (now folded).
I have had quite a few Scimitars of different models over the years, mostly restoration projects or bought for parts. I currently still own quite a few, including a Middlebridge.
I am currently the SE6-Series model Registrar for the Club and also know a lot about the cars mechanically.
You may ask what a ‘Noggin’ is about and depending on who you ask you may get different answers, but to us it is an opportunity to meet instead of just being a voice on the end of the phone, a social event for people with a similar interest. It is amazing how people of such diverse backgrounds become good friends because of a car.
The Teesside Noggin has been going for many years now. I initially started attending the Wearside Noggin and at a stretch the Newcastle Noggin, but after a couple of years I decided to re-establish the Teesside Noggin. It had lain dormant for a fair few years, including the times when I was going to the Wearside event. It made sense and I was encouraged by local Scimitar owners to do it.
The Noggin group is a relatively small group, rarely getting to greater than ten people and as a result we have all become firm friends. Over the years it has expanded and contracted as members have come and gone. Members and non-members who have an interest in joining the Club are most welcome to join us.
Although we do talk about the cars and issues to do with them, we can and do talk about all sorts. We also help one-another, which may include providing a lending hand for an awkward job (as long a free coffee is provided) or searching our personal parts stash to help one another out, etc.
