Water pipes

Post by Timharwood69 » Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:32 pm

A bit of help with the coolant hoses needed please. I will be renewing the hoses on my 5a and it was originally an auto choke but has had a manual conversion. Do I now run a pipe from the thermostat to the top of the water pump and block the auto choke hose by the heater joint or leave them as per photos and just take out the the auto choke housing and use a longer hose.
Thanks muchly.

Simplest/cheapest/quickest, is to join the two pipes that went to/from the autochoke?

It’s s 5a so the heater has s valve on it - this means you need to maintain the bypass circuit. As such, you should have 3 ”small bore” hoses:

Hose 1 - bottom of thermostat to top of water pump
Hose 2 - back of inlet manifold to heater inlet
Hose 3 - heater outlet to back of water pump

Which one is the inlet and outlet to the heater is debatable but in reality makes little/no difference.

Thanks for the info, as it seems to be working i will just take the housing out and join the two pipes.
