Smiths fresh air fans
Both my Smiths fresh air fans, if that is what they are known as, are loose and rattling around in the inner wings. The retaining bolts, rubbers, steel mesh and metal sleeves have all rotted out and are no longer around. Is there an update or mod for both these fans or is it a matter of just replacing the missing parts and refitting. Many thanks for your help.

Original or repro parts are still available - some replace with bilge pumps or modern fans (the list is huge
).
Whichever, I’d recommend relays in the system to protect the switch.

Beauty of the originals is that you have two speeds....not sure if there are any bilge pumps that have that unless you wire up to the original blocks on top of the smiths motors.....has anyone tried this? All the connectors, three rubber mounts and cowl are available on eBay from a guy that specialises in making them for bmc cars.

Thanks for that, hat sounds ideal. Have tried searching Ebay for him but no joy as yet. Will try again later.TrevorG wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 11:28 amBeauty of the originals is that you have two speeds....not sure if there are any bilge pumps that have that unless you wire up to the original blocks on top of the smiths motors.....has anyone tried this? Company was Ashley Hinton, mg spares specialist. https://www.mg-cars.org.uk The scimitar ones aren't on eBay at the moment but they probably make to order, might be worth contacting.....mine fitted perfectly.

Two speeds on bilge pumps? Dead easy. A pair of relays is all that is required. First switch position connects them in series. Second position puts them in parallel.
