Hi,
I've just bought an Se5, EMC173J. Not sure if it is on the register or not.

Its last tax ran out at the end of August 1988. As you can imagine, it is going to take a bit of time to get back on the road.
It is registered as blue but I can't make my mind up if it is green or blue.

It is a manual overdrive car, which seems very standard.

Andy..

Glad to see another SE5 being saved.....Does look very original with the lovely, original wheeltrims - also seems to have very straight sills...(well, assuming the offside looks as good.. ) which is a definite bonus...

Yes, both sills are very straight and it was one of the reasons I decided to buy it.

Unfortunately it isn't quite as good as it looks in the photo, but it has been off the road for a very long time.

I haven't looked at the chassis number yet [to dark] but I have looked at some of the info that came with the car ; original "" The key to service book"" states , DATE OF SALE 1/8/74 CHASSIS NO 93X4760 ENGINE SC8378 REG SUL139N ,SOLD NEW BY MALAYA GARAGE BILLINGSHURST. My understanding is that 1974 5as began around 93x3722 and finished around 93 x5909 [some numbers being omitted] 1971 5as being 451735 thru to 452821, however I could be misinformed . The oldest MOT with a chassis number on it is 1996 saying 93x4760 .A typed history by the second owner states "first owner FT EVERARD AND SONS LTD 8/8/74 , SERVICED AT MALAYA GARAGE 29/9 76 MILEAGE 27363 . I will go on the dvla search and see what they say .Thanks for your intrest RICHARD .

Just been on DVLA site and they say first reg August 1974 . What data did you put in to get a July 1971 result please ? Would be very intrested in your answer. All evidence suggests a 1974 . You never know it could be that its got mixed up with some of those 427 Cobra chassis that Carroll Shelby forgot he had , I await the attorneys letter ! Richard .

You can’t have a 1971 registered car with an “N” suffix - I suspect you had finger trouble, Justin? I’ve just looked and DVLA tell me it’s a 1974 registration..
