Edit date created for MP4 files

Post by swoakes » Thu Jul 04, 2019 6:14 pm

Hoping someone can help

I have windows 10 Home edition on my laptop.

I want to edit the date an MP4 file was created.

I can edit the "media created" date from within the windows file manager but not "date created".

Is this possible using Windows or do I need software installing to do it :?: If the later any suggestions :?:

THIS should do the job.

No need to install anything, just run the executable file within the archive.

I'm a suspicious sod, so I just change the date & time of the PC , re-save the file and then re-set the clock, no exe files involved

had to do this when 'sanitising' technical reports but wanting to make the sanitised report appear to have been created at the same time as the full-blown, non-redacted version

Thanks David that software works BUT....

I'm bringing together media files from 2 phones and a digital camera and want to put them together in 1 folder IN DATE/TIME ORDER as a photo record of a holiday.

Trouble is when you copy files to a folder "dates" are changed and video files don't seem to have a "date taken" tag unlike image files. This make sorting them in order a real headache.

Is it possible to copy files from a phone/ camera to a PC and maintain original dates :?:

Quick answer - I don't know but probably. I know Microsoft Photos (free!) will import photos from any device but I haven't actually used it.

I always put the photos/ media files in dated sub-folders within a named holiday folder and then create a slideshow. This looks quite good and is easily shared/shown. I think MS Photos will do this for you as well although there's a plethora of free slideshow programs out there. 😉

Thanks David I'll take a look at Microsoft Photos.

I'll also look at the dated folders idea; cheers
