Fuel filter

According to the original service schedule, the MB fuel filter should be REPLACED every 24K miles. I can't recall ever seeing any discussion of this - has anyone ever done it? If so, what replacement did you fit, as I assume the original was a Ford part no longer available, though it may be it was Mahle (KL30?).

Strangely nothing on the MESS site about it, must be the only part of his car Mick hasn't touched yet !

[sorry Mick  ]

Also, presuming you have some fuel in the tank, how exactly do you take out the filter and stick a new one in - clamps on the hoses ?

I have a Sytech washable filter (and Sytech pump)
Mine is all 8mm but I believe Sytech do 12ish mm for Ford fitting too
I don't like the idea of clamping hoses, I shoved a bung in the end of mine (clamped just to be on the safe side  )

On the road I don't drive fast, but I don't slow down for corners
In competition I drive very fast, but not always on the track ...
