I'd love to, but what should it look like?

It’s not standard, so it can be whatever you want it to look like - but 6 jubilee clips and random bits of rubber pipe and metal tubes is just asking for trouble :D

The tank is standard ...

I suppose I'll just have to take the blue connector off and see if I can get one that fits with a 12 mm (or better still 8 mm) outlet.
Serious perusal of Demon Tweeks catalogue to follow.

If the blue connector has a barbed end under that hose, just fit new 12mm pipe (or whatever size it is), then a single step-down to 8mm which is presumably what the filter is?

The first length of pipe is 16 mm, that's the problem (well, one of them).
Yes the filter is 8 mm (Sytech), the original was 12 mm (Ford), the origin of the 16 mm I don't know
So, is there such a thing as 16 mm petrol pipe ?

I

Now I am nudged, it seems also that the blue fitting is a hydraulic connection.
Why it was installed in this manner is a mystery.

The upper nut on the hydraulic fitting is 26 mm across flats, the lower one is 24 mm, these are probably not metric
Well, i can think of one reason.....

If it is an unf/unc size thread they might have gone to a Harley Davidson shop, for some parts when they needed some..
I believe they sell these parts for connecting the oil tank to the engine (dry sump engines)

16mm (5/8”) is pretty common in fuel systems. I think the late small sports fuel tank outlet is that size for instance (going to an 8mm fuel pump inlet).

My XR4x4i had 16mm fuel tank to fuel pump, then 8mm outlet from the fuel pump to the rest of the system.

So a 16 mm / 8 mm reducer is a standard item ?
I'll get my Demon Tweeks bible out tomorrow.

M16 thread maybe - but 5/8”/16mm is huge for a fuel outlet? Normally 12mm from a tank to pump?

Just had a google and 16mm is used  - just haven’t come across anything that big myself.

They’re a couple of quid delivered - and nylon, so not affected by ethanol.

It's not a hydraulic fitting - its a Goodridge alloy fuel fitting for a push on hose
https://www.advantage-motorsport.co.uk/ ... se+Fitting

Dash 10 JIC would be for a 5/8" hose and the thread is equivalent to 7/8” - 14 UNF

Exactly as Gavin said, the blue bit is a dash 10 JIC (why 10 I wonder).
Now, having spent an hour and a half removing the damn thing and another hour perusing the Goodridge catalogue, it appears that connectors of 7/8 inch are only available with 16 mm (5/8 inch) outlet
At the outlet end of the connector the other 'nut' is smaller but is impossible to unscrew, I have nearly pulled my vice off the bench trying.
So I need to find some 16 mm hose and a 16 / 8 mm adapteur or do it as before with two reducers.
Or perhaps I can screw something else on the fuel tank exit ... I'll see if I can unscrew the remaining 'nut'.

Can I repeat my first appeal, what is the nature of this tank exit, and where can I get 16 mm fuel hose :?:
