While we are only able to make essential journeys at the moment; I am sure I am not the only one who has chosen to use the Scimitar to go shopping so I thought a thread showing how we are still managing to run our cars might be appropriate.

While I was out I filled up with petrol and a chap coming out of the filling station stopped to admire the car (at a socially acceptable 2m+) and told me he had a Sabre 6, SE4 and a SE6 back in the day. He said his SE4 was 6 years old when the rear axle detached due to rot! However, it obviously survived as he had checked the number on the DVLA site and it is still on the road. It was bronze in colour if anyone wants to go check their chassis for welding! :D

Unfortunately that means I MUST get round to replacing the exhaust gasket on number 6 cylinder!

A guy from the village popped in yesterday to ask if I could repair his SSC (Fisher/Sylva) Stylus that he had crashed at Mallory Park 12 years ago. He had owned a 5a in the 90s and that was still taxed according to DVLA :D

Had to take the Ford out for a 20 mile run yesterday as I got a "Battery Low" warning, because of all the short runs to the shops. Shame the Sabre Six battery is holding up so well...
(Modern alarms etc draining the battery, I suppose).

Boffin has been put to good use on the weekly supermarket trip a number of times now - but I remembered to get a photo this time! I had just got back to the car to find her being admired by a fellow shopper. A 20 minute conversation ensued. He was a 71 year old who had wanted a GTE since 1968! When we got onto the topic of prices, he was very pleasantly surprised by their affordability, and is now considering blowing his pension on one!

Mines in for paint at the moment, so no driving it regardless of restrictions.

Taken about the same time last year at the starting line of the Gordon Bennett Rally with acne & a torn front wheel arch. Cannot wait to get driving her again.
