And the second six ...
Of course my next problem is how to present the register.
I really can't run another site so I think it will have to be on Scimitar France (like the photos)

I think I'm in a position to bring the story on 213 / HNH1/HMH1 / PYY726D right up to date, now that I've dug out my photos. These were originally intended to be part of a "sightings" thread, but as I was busy, that never happened

As I understand it, the story of 213 starts when it was bought by an affluent businessman, who had it registered with a personal plate to match his initials. Eventually the car fell on hard times, and was abandoned and neglected. A local chap (Jon) was keeping an eye on it, and one day it was bought by a garage owner. His reason was that he wanted the personal plate, and once he'd transferred the plate, he planned to scrap the car  Fortunately, Jon managed to persuade him to sell the car, and then embarked on a very comprehensive restoration to concours condition.

I first heard of the car when it appeared for the first time post-restoration, at a Goodwood Breakfast Club, reported on here. I was amazed that the rebuild had gone on only about 10 miles from me, and I'd not heard anything about it. Over the next couple of years or so, the owner brought it to a few of the Southern Classics events, but I think, now it was complete, he wanted a new challenge?

So I was not really surprised when it appeared at Percivals, for sale at 20k (IIRC). I heard nothing more since.

Until.........

In September this year I was at the Goodwood Revival, and strolling through the Lavant Bank members' car park on the Friday, I spotted a very nice Dutch-registered Coupe. I started to take photos, and then the thought dawned on me "don't I know this car?" It looked very familiar. On the dashboard was a Dutch classic car magazine, with an article about the car. Now, I wouldn't claim to be fluent in Dutch but I could see that the article talked about the purchase of the car from Percivals, and its move to Holland. Subsequently, a bit of googling brought up the website for the magazine, which includes (if you scroll down) a mention of the article, with a photo of the car wearing its UK plates - PYY! :D So it looks as though the story is complete, and furthermore, that the car is being actively and enthusiastically used, which is great. (and it still looks fantastic too!) :D

Now the photos from this year's Revival:

Great work Chris.

I can give you a brief update on my car 400856 which I have owned since 1978. It's been completely rebuilt over the past few years and is taxed and insured. I just need to respray it now plus a few small jobs before it is complete. It will be the original Down White.

Strangely, it is actually an SE4b with the internal mods, perforated steel wheels etc. but is 45 chassis numbers before Reliant actually started building them! Another example of the mix and match build process Reliant used?

David.

SE4B Coupe - rebuilt on brand-new chassis.
Bought in 1978 and an RSSOC member since. 😲

Pete, great photos, if a bit sad. Any idea what is the reddish car?
No info on the reddish car at all, I'm afraid.

Well done Roger, that's quite a coup! I'll have to think how to record all that info.
David, you simplify things by owning the car for 40 years, thanks 8)
Pete, never mind, I'll add it to the section 'unknown reddish wrecks', there are a few.

Love the colour scheme, there isn't room on the register to list all those colours

CCM 345C - Chassis No: 400021 - Engine No: 5372686

EBB 496 is FDU 665C (still in Cyprus) - I wonder if FDV 655C should read FDU 655C too?

HRD 888E - Chassis No: 400455 - Engine No: E116

KOV 3F was GBG 540E?

ARF 109D - Chassis No: 400401 - Engine No: 6020a

I did have that thought too, so checked both :D

DU was Coventry, DV was Exeter.

Following up on a coupe sighting by one of my neighbours and my postman! I had a drive out to a adjoining county today. After driving around the general area jackpot!
619. OYY 334F. Powys . Spoke to the wife who informed me that her husband had owned the coupe for the last 18 years.
Did give me permission to post pictures here. Love the colour really suits the coupe lines.

Thanks Dave, that's a good collection.
FDV was already changed to FDU on my register, it seemed logical.
I don't think KOV 3F was GBG 540E although they are the same colour.
GBG was the original number of 0528, a well-known car that belonged to Mike McGear and much later Jeff Craske.
ARF being 0401 poses a new problem - was BRE 296D in fact 0402 ?

Phil, you have been busy!
That's a lovely car, last heard of in 2004 - so still the same owner.

Morning all, at the current time the online register on ScimitarGT is not being publicly updated as I am working on a new website as well as lots behind the scenes with the other registrars to ensure data is collected in line with our gdpr policy.

Please keep sending me any data you have and see the next slice for a full update on my future plans
