Thanks chaps, I'll study that later.

Before I forget, there are (at least) two anomalies in the reg no's recorded ...
0209 HKG 377G must be HKG 377D
5059 HLG 455N must be HLG 455H

AND chassis 0070 and 0076 look to me like the same car
If 0070 was really scrapped, it is not the car in the photo ...

HKG 377D is on DVLA but not HLG 455H.

Nope - I tried F to N. If it went to Switzerland in the 70s before DVLA went computerised, it won’t appear at all.

As Jim said the DVLA went computerised in the 70,s so if it was not registered then than it would not have been entered onto the database . Other reasons for not being on DVLA database are , Car has been scrapped so entry would have been removed . Car has been exported and reregistered in another country. If a car has had a vanity plate transferred to the car the original plate does not show up and also if the original plate is removed and held on retention it does not show up .
Add a note to this , up until a few years ago many owners scrapped cars and did not tell the DVLA this means the records are still live but the cars have long gone and on the database it looks like the car still exists.

Do you have any more pics of 70 & 76? I’d say there’s nothing in those two pics to say they’re the same car with any small degree of certainty.

I think it's the same car which belongs to Andy Flowerdew. I remember seeing the first photos of it when it was virtually buried in rubbish before he rescued it and started to restore it.

Thanks chaps, I thought they were probably different cars.
HRE 408F is on file as long ago as 1992 at Curborough, I expect Dave has the original factory pics 8)
That was on our trade stand, I think we'd just finished the restoration, but I was only 9 so don't really remember
Easily identifiable by the boot lid modification we did!

We've still got the photo on facebook from when the owner took delivery after the restoration.

I now own 621 and 949.

621 should be back on the road soon, just fighting with the brakes as it appears to have been off the road since 2004, I plan to use it for a while then do a full Avon Classic Cars restoration.
949 is unlikely to see the road again, its been off the road since '96 and has suffered, there is pretty much no chassis that is salvageable but I'll be holding on to it for a while and see what happens!

Great to hear from you Alex.

I must admit I hadn't noticed the boot in the photo but I remember it, much neater than the original.
I haven't found the 1980 2,5 litre register yet so can't tell you the owner at that time ...

621 had a factory sliding sunroof, which was in working order at Drayton Manor in '94
In 1980 it belonged to D Riley of Barrow-on-Soar, Leicestershire

949 no pic, in 1980 belonged to D Parker of Newport, Gwent

Hi Chris, the owner in '92 was Bob Gherkin, he'd already had it for some years when we did the restoration, Bob was scared to use it as it turned out better than he expected, so in 1993 we sold it on his behalf to Rick Priestley, design director of The Games Workshop as his company car.

Photo from the 1992 handover, (dad on the left) :

621 still has a factory sliding sunroof, working of sorts, though I will be removing it as I need the extra headroom! we bought it from Derek Holland who had owned it since '85.

949 was bought from a guy called Greg although it was never registered in his name, he bought it from a lady who's husband had died.

Excellent!
The more histories we can record the better.
They are all recorded in the notes column of the spreadsheet, no room on the register itself.
Enquiries always welcome :)
