Ignition circuit

I think that’s the wrong hand - you need a Sierra one IIRC. Don’t forget that whilst it might be an Escort engine, it’s not fitted like an Escort.

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

I'm out that way tomorrow anyway, I'll drop it off and see what they can do.

Just when you thought I'd gone away!!

Went to the Autoelectrician in Innsworth. He had a recon alternator on the shelf for " not a lot more " ( his words ) so I bought it.

Fitted it this morning .... still no ignition light!!

Can't check voltages because my DVM has stopped working. Unlike yesterday earthing the wire at the alternator doesn't bring the ignition light on. Going for a rest now, think about something else for a bit.

I’ve had an intermittent light before - flexible circuit board contacts were corroded. Try tapping the dash?

Started with a few gentle taps and progressed to something a little more violent. No light though.
Ordered a new DVM, should get it tomorrow so I'll have another poke around then.
