SS1 1.8Ti engine wiring loom

Post by MikeCottingham » Wed Apr 03, 2019 3:58 am

Hi everyone,
My name is Mike Cottingham, and I have an SS1 1.8Ti, 1988, which I am returning to standard as much as possible. It had been modified (butchered) with a carburettor, and the inlet manifold had been hacked around. The car is in Taiwan, where I live. Most of the issues are now (hopefully) resolved, but I am still looking for the engine wiring loom. I have a source for the main loom, but the engine loom is harder to find. Any ideas or suggestions will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Mike.

SS1 1.8Ti engine wiring loom

Welcome Mike :D

The main loom is slightly different between CVH and Ti (different dash and the ECU) and the Ti has a plug in sub loom for the fuel pump. The engine side is quite easy to make from scratch - most of it goes to the ECU, so if you have that plug you should be able to make the rest?

There have been new K series looms for sale recently but I haven’t seen any for the Ti.

Welcome Mike :D

Regarding the loom, then it’s as Jim said above.

Which Taiwanese 1800Ti do you have? I know of either 1 or 2 red ones, a white one and a silver one over there.

Thanks for the replies, Jim and Phil.
My car is red, and the "SCD" number is 2104 81 JL 001394, although it's pretty roughed up and hard to read.
I've seen earlier posts about cars in Taiwan, but I've never seen those actual cars. And the photos are not photos of my car. Take a look below. Sorry, it's a big file.

Ok - your car isn’t one of the ones I thought (I don’t think) but only had partial information from my time as Registrar. Mikelima48, is this a new one to you?

SS1 1.8Ti engine wiring loom

Yes, I’m quite sure you will not have seen it before. It was imported into Taiwan new, for a friend of mine, the first owner. I also knew the second owner, and I am the third. All owners are Brits. The car has not been messed around bodily, and is in good condition from that point of view. The spoiler has been removed at some time or other. The problem is the fuel system. It was running, very roughly, on a Dellorto DRLA45D carb. I decided to put everything back to standard, if I could find the parts. It’s taken a while, but I now have the inlet manifold (and a spare), the ECU (and a spare), new fuel pump, injectors, and I can get a main loom from QRG, I don’t have the fuel pump loom nor the engine loom. When I solve those things, and it comes time to re-assemble everything, I’ll find out what else I need, if anything.

If you’re effectively building a loom to fit, you might find a large proportion of it can come from a Nissan Sylvia/S12 (as the donor vehicle)? I’m not saying you’ll be able to find one in Taiwan but should be able to in Japan or other places over your end of the world?

Hi Mike.
Welcome and thank you for telling us about your car. It looks very good. Thanks also for including the VIN. Your car hasn't been registered before, may I include it in our Small Sports Register please along with the image? It would also be useful to have it's first date of registration, and engine number. I hope you get it running again soon, they are great little cars when sorted.Kind regards.

Very true - but given the S12 only came with 2 engines I know of (FJ20E and CA18ET) thought it might be easier to source one :D

Got a complete s12 loom here that has been partially unwrapped or just an s12 engine loom as well.

As well as s/h SS1 cvh looms.

Thanks everyone for the helpful comments.
Mike, please feel free to include my car and its photo in the Register. I’ll send you the engine number and date of first registration (in Taiwan) in due course, as I am not near the car at present.
