Hi I'm after some advise as I'm trying to get my ti started. I'm not brilliant with electrics so please bear with me. I have downloaded some of the threads I can find on this. I turn the ignition on a fuel pump runs continually pumping fuel round the system turn key engine turns over no spark but oil pressure. I look at the ecu it's not lit at all even turning into diag mode. I have power at the ecu fuse but don't know what to check at the ecu.
What I have found is that the four way connector that goes to the dizzy has been taken apart at some time and it looks like some wires have been crossed as the colours don't match. What should the correct connection be where can I get a picture of this. ? Thanks mike

Also meant to say that two were loose and not connected. Thx mike

The pump has a switched earth via the ECU. The pump running continuously suggests a problem at the ECU end or it has been or is being earthed in situ. It should only run for a brief period when the ignition is switched on.

Sounds, as Corky says, it’s had the usual bypass for the fuel pump when it’s internal resistor burns out..

Hi thanks for the replies. I'll print the wiring diagram off and have a go tomorrow. I wired the earth at the pump as I only had one wire. Is the earth wire shielded ? If so I have a spare wire and will try connecting that. I'll cut the connector block from the dizzy and put a temporary connector in. If the dizzy was not connected would the ecu still get power ? I'm crap at electrics. I've still got all the lights etc to sort out. Thx mike

Well I've spent most of the day trying to sort the electrics. Got the lights working but still can't get the damned thing to fire. Can't find any issues with the wiring but reading through some previous threads where is the power resistor so I can look at that. ? Thx Mike

More likely the coil but I have had a dizzy fail Mark Wilson had spares but don't know if he has any left.

I have refurbished dizzies, AND the rare CAS units with fitting destructions
Power resistor is screwed to the coil mounting bracket, just follow the thin wires from the coil.

Hi Thanks for the help. As I said I hate electrics so am struggling a bit.
I found the power resistor but what I have found is that the wires were out of the plastic housing / connector when I started looking at the dizzy wiring connector.
Which is the correct way round for the wires ? (I may have to rewire them as the wiring insulation looks very brittle due to the heat.
I'm hoping to get a friend round to help me who is more electrical biased than me !.
I still can't get power to the ecu even though the fuses all have feeds going through them. had all sorts of problems with bad earths and corroded relays.
thanks again.

There are two fuses on the edge of the fuse box towards the front of the car. Some people think they’re just spares, but they’re not. Make sure they have fuses inserted, as I seem to remember that one of them powers the ECU.

Yep - extra fuses for fuel pump and injectors (F23 & 24 on diagram) plus R10 relay on the RH inner wing. Will see if I can get a picture of the wiring today.

Hi thanks again for the help.
Found the two fuses at the front of the fuse box, that's why the fuel pump powers up off the ignition switch with a earth wire at the pump.(If I wire it any other way it doesn't work.
The fuse on the ecu circuit is good, I found that one of the relay wires under the relay box had been crushed when it was originally fitted. I've put a temporary cable in to ensure that it gets a good feed even though it currently works ok.
I also took the cover off the ecu and couldn't find any sign of burning /heated tracks on the pcb.
I've also got a good fuse on the ECU circuit.

Where is the R10 relay located. I can see it on the wiring diagram but can't find it in the car.

Thanks again

Mike

Randomly screwed to the inner RH wing.

Ti extra fuses and updated fuse box cover legend - also see random relay on inner wing.

Disclaimer - I repaired a lot of wiring on this car a long time ago, so can’t be 100% sure that colours are original.
