Tax Exempt

Post by Terry H » Mon May 14, 2018 7:54 pm

Just checked the Chassis Numbering pages on the wiki thing and 61 is as you say Aztec Yellow. I have two old ones printed out from a while back (before wiki) which say 61 Aztec Blue so looks like it has been changed at some point. Sorry if I may have miss led anyone.

It’s on of a few errors in The Scimitar and its forebears - corrected in the wiki.

Probably April 2020. My Scim was first registered March 1976 and I had to wait till April 2017 for Tax exemption.

Tax Exempt

Post by Wasman » Wed May 30, 2018 10:38 pm

Sorry for jumping in late here, but I'm starting to think I'm tax exempt and just haven't noticed. (D'oh!).

The https://www.gov.uk/historic-vehicles website clearly states:

Vehicles exempt from vehicle tax
You do not need to pay vehicle tax if your vehicle was built on or before 31 December 1977.

So, if my GTE6 was registered on 1st August 1977 it must have been built before then. Right?

And now that I'm checking the net for details, it also looks like it may be MOT exempt too! Looking at form V112 on the https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-from-mot website, category 'R' on the rear clearly states MOT exeption for:

(GB only) A vehicle other than a public service vehicle registered or manufactured 40 years ago and which has not been substantially changed in the last 30 years.

I might just head off to the Post Office and see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

yep - any Scimitar that hasn't been substantially modified and was registered before Jan 78 is VED & MOT exempt
