Would anybody happen to have found out about paint #69 - it is one of the last 5a from 1975, and nobody seems to be able to figure out how to mix it...

I was wondering the same thing, and wondering how you can be confident that it's what your car is? :)

just had a quick look and one of your first posts here suggests your car is a shade of white?

Hi guys, sorry for the delayed reply.

I was under the impression that the paint number was included in the VIN - but I stand corrected on that.
Back to getting someone with a spectrophotometer to sort this it looks!

Reliant paint codes with ICI ref

Post by Oddjobber23 » Thu Oct 15, 2020 9:09 am

Hello, I thank you for putting up the list of colours it has helped me immensely, but I am having trouble sourcing a paint supplier. By the list my car, an SE6 A, is April Yellow 06324. I have tried Holts, ICI, Jawel Paints, and even Halfords, with no success. I want to return my SE6 A to its original colour as I am old school and think if it came off the line like it it deserves to be returned to that state.
Any help from anybody would be gratefully received.
Regards, Alan

Alan, you need to contact a decent local paint supplier who know what they’re talking about. Look for local recommendations (you don’t have location in your profile). Also ask Scimitar owner/specialists like speedy555 or AJL Electronics as I’m sure they can source the paint.

Having gone down this road recently may I put forward my view . I , like you, tried suppliers such as the ones you mentioned , but I was wanting a match to the colour on the car now . The "off" white looked at first glance like Old English White , but buying a spray tin soon proved that to be wrong . After some investigation I decided to go to a trade supplier of the local accident repair shops / restoration firms who put my headlamp surround on the spectro thingymejig and it came up with a 98% match of a Chrysler white . Now this was the good bit , he could adjust , some how , his " mix " to take into account of some ageing,[ I think this was down to his years of knowledge really ] and I must say it was 99.9% spot on . Getting a shine on it was a bit of a bu.... but that was my lack of knowledge and skill more than the paints fault . So, do your home work , find out which paint supplier services the top restoration / custom boys in your area and go and talk to " the man " himself . Regards Richard .
