2.8 Cologne into a SE6A ??

Post by Geofftit » Wed Aug 07, 2019 3:32 pm

I have just purchased a wreck of a SE6a manual and overdrive. I cant really see what the chassis is like until I get the body off, but the engine (hasn't moved since 1991) appears to be more rust than metal.

A friend has offered me a Cologne engine and auto box from a limo that has only done less than 100000 miles. Is it and easy transplant? Is it a sensible transplant?

Thanks in advance Geoff

Fairly easy if you can weld - engine mounts need to move.

Not as good as the Essex, but certainly better than no engine at all! At least the C3 gearbox will be the same as would have been fitted.

2.8 carb, MFi or EFi by the way?

Not sure about the engine (2.8 carb, MFi or EFi ). It is from a funeral directors limo and wn't be available for a few months.

Which would be preferrable?

Carb is by far the easiest to install - don’t forget the ignition module and the wiring that comes with it for the dizzy if you go do it.

If it is from a limo, it will may be a 2.9i and if so an excellent choice.
