Weber 38 Dgas
I have a question about the 38 Dgas installed on my engine. There were many missing parts on the engine and I believe there is a missing fitting from the carb.
There is a fitting tube spigot above the accelerator gearing and below the brass coloured blank, as per photo, and I do not know if it should be blanked off, left open or connected to another part.
I have installed electric fuel pump and I was wondering if there is excess fuel flow to the carb does the excess fuel automatically return to the tank?
Can anyone help please.
Many thanks,

Blanked off. There should be a return pipe to the tank on the 6s

I think some air filters use that air tapping - blank off if you don’t need it.
The electric pump will stop pumping when the float chamber is full and the valve shuts but a 6 series would normally have a restricted return line to the tank.

Is the tank original? I think all later carbs have the casting but not necessarily drilled and fitted with brass pipe?

Tank looks original , it’s got a 40DFAV with a return and it returns following the feed pipe down the chassis . Both in Black poly tube and it returns into the tank via a tube in the tank filler neck . You can just see the return on this picture .

Yes, that vacuum takeoff is, as Jim says for the later-type air cleaner used on Se6as, which had an automatic warm air flap in the intake trunk. If you don't have that kind of air filter, then you can blank it off.
I believe your car is a '77 Se6a? If so there is a good chance it will have a fuel return, if so it'll be on the other side of the carb nxt to the fuel intake.

Many thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.
Will be blanked off. The tank, I believe, is original and the return piping is complete. Feeling a lot happier now.
This car is fighting every step of the way but she will be a beauty when finished.
Best wishes to you all,
Keith

My thanks to all contributors above, useful reading for me. I’d better go & look at my carb.
