Lockheed clutch master cylinder operation
Hi All, I tried blowing some air though it and there is definitely some coming through the smaller hole in the he pedal up position (the recuperation hole is between the two seals). I filled it up with BF and left it on the bench and it slowly drained through albeit very slowly. And I think that is the problem why I'm not able to pump fluid through using the pedal.
I think this weekend I am going to try fitting it back on the car and using a vacuum bleeder to pull the fluid down to the slave. Once the air is purged it should work ok.

With SE6A/B/GTC, I usually unbolt the slave and hold it above the master and then ask someone to pump the pedal. It always gets the slave primed !
I then just refit the slave.
I then just refit the slave.

I had a similar problem with the brakes of our horsebox. The local commercial garage told me to wedge the pedal down to the floor overnight and said it would be OK in the morning .... and they were right! I presume it allows the system to bleed itself back through the master cylinder.
Might be worth a try if all else fails.

Works on SS1 brakes when you can't bleed them..

The vacuum bleeder worked well but the pedal still wasn't generating any pressure. I took the slave off and it looked ok from the outside but inside was a right state.
So I gave up on it and bought the master and slave off Jimscim. It's arrived and looks good so I'll have a go at fitting it this weekend.
Hopefully that will sort it !

I am having exactly the same problem today. I can generate pressure at the M/C outlet, but it doesn't push liquid down the pipe, which is a long flexible Goodridge, which loops up around the top of the bellhousing before descending to the slave cyinder. It worked before I took it apart to change the engine & clutch. I think that a big air-pocket gets trapped at the highest point in the loop, so I am making up a bottle with a pipe which I will connect to the bleed screw, and fill under pressure from the bottom. That should push any air out at the top. Let you know later in the day!

Well, that didn't work because nothing will go back up the pipe. So I took the mastercylinder off , opened it up and found the cause of the problem. I can't photograph it, but essentially a small nylon washer has disintagrated, allowing the retrun spring to bear directly on the front rubber seal, which therefore cannot fluctuate with the piston strokes, so the piston just sucks back whatever it had pushed out . So I need a repair kit.

Prety certain I have a few NOS Lockheed servo kits, but I don`t think they include anything for the MC.
I will have a look at my rebuild kits and see if I have one, otherwise I have a few NOS original MC inc plastic reservoir.

Thanks Mark. Just to be clear, we are talking about the clutch M/C, not the brakes......plastic reservoir?
