New to Scimitars. My GTE has the 2.8 cologne engine with solex carb. Rebuilt carb with new kit but it still refuses to idle properly and coughs erratically on throttle pickup. Any ideas what could be wrong ( I have adjusted the bypass idle screws throughout the range but no success). The carb runs fine after 1/3 rd throttle up to max, just kangaroos at slow speed.
Any advice appreciated

I'm no expert on this, but I think, if the timing is not as advanced as it should be you will get coughing, spluttering etc.
Unless of course you've already checked the timing, in which case please ignore everything I said above.

Solex is prone to internal jets and drillings blocking up.
Sounds like Idle jets are blocked, but they are sealed units so wire will not help.
Compressed air can sometimes clear them, but Weber 38 DGA, S or M will fix the problem.
