It's not on the register, but the owner has been in touch a couple of times about tax exemption. Unfortunately I can't help him without the chassis number.

Same house, not sure date but looks like a Coupe in pace of the Allard??

According to Piston heads it is a "one-off Allard known as the Imhoff Allard."

Found the house

https://goo.gl/maps/2auRHh561nrv8PMa8

There is a timeline on streetview and you can see three views of this house. The most Scimitaresque is the 2008 one. Sadly no view of that Coupe reg that I could read. Time has not been kind to those allards however, leaving the window open won;'t have helped. Such a shame. Scimitars have gone in recent pictures. I wonder what is in the garage?!

The large grey car is the ex Godfrey Imhof coupe , built as a one off by / for Imhof by Allard on a modified J2 frame [ not sure what engine , Cad , Ford ? ] . Imhof was a personal friend of Sidney Allard and designed some of the bodies of Allards , I think he created a few specials but this is a rare one and well known in Allard circles , hope it gets restored . The reason I have this info is that I knew a man many years ago , Mr Wright Holbeach Lincs who had a very eclectic scrap yard and he collected Allards and had tried to buy it with no luck . Regards Richard .

This is what the grey car looked like when owned by Goff Imhof , a Allard J2 that he had raced widely then had re bodied for every day use , reg LXT 5 . If it has the original engine it will be a Cad . I am informed that the re body was probably done by a firm in Kingston by the name of Peels. The gentleman who owns it is a very lucky man . Regards Richard .

I think most uk versions got the Ford V8 Richard, and a few cad ovh V8's but there was a Chrysler 331 Hemi option for the more discerning petrol head :D

As for the T reg 5a, possibly imported from the channel Islands around 78/79, i got a 77 SD1 from Jersey in late 81 and it got a 81 X plate, that's how they did it back then, V5 stated made 77 first reg uk 81. also had lot's of state side imports with the same carry on.

Hi Paul , I think you are correct , I am fairly sure that the J2, that was the base for this coupe, had a Cad engine in at some time , however I have found out that future owners have changed the engine on a couple of occasions . I have been reminded that Imhof rallied this car in J2 form ,and other Allards , on one occasion in the Monty . An original J2 with a bit of race history will probably go for about £250,000 , the Americans love these Cobra ancestors. Regards Richard . [ sorry to deviate from the focus of the original post]
