New member - 1979 SE6A Auto

Post by nuclear_jimbo » Sat Aug 15, 2020 9:10 pm

Hi, I'd like to introduce myself as I'm new to both the forum and Scimitar ownership. As of last week, I'm the proud owner of UTR 325T, a yellow 1979 SE6A Auto which is my first Scimitar but not my first classic as over the years I've owned (amongst others) an MGB GT, Fiat Strada 130TC, Saab 900 Turbo S, Porsche 924 and 944 S2, Mercedes CL500 and a Coventry Climax firepump, plus various elderly BMW motorcycles. The amount of interest that passers-by show in the Scimitar is amazing, I've never had anything like that with any other car I've ever owned and it can't just be the colour!

There are a few jobs to do on the car, it runs but it's not running right so I'm taking a methodical approach and testing step by step and it's a delight to have a car where the wiring diagram fits on a single page again. Also there are a few jobs that I would class as "finishing" like wiring up electric door mirrors and so on but there's plenty to keep me occupied.

As for me, I'm an IT manager working in medical research. I'm based in London for work but I and the Scim live in North-East Lincolnshire. I've been lurking the forum for the last few months while I made up my mind about getting a Scimitar so I already have to thank the experts for their help! Hopefully I'll be able to pay that back in time.

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

Welcome, and don't be shy on showing all your photos (pictures painting thousands of words) :D I rode a BMW R65 for a few years - I removed the double saddle and painted it pink  It was white again when I sold it 8)
