got a new battery today, connected it put the key in and engine turned sweetly, now I just have to find a way to connect coolant hos to water pump as the connection spigot has corroded away completely, I suspect the wrong anti freeze attached it over the last couple of decades. Need to track down a water pump now I suppose.

That won't be hard. A quick call to GW, QRG or Burtons and you can have one on your doorstep tomorrow!

Pleased you have started the journey , keep an eye on those core plugs when you have got the new water pump on and fired up . Could not see the o/d switch on dash [ may be the angle of picture ] has it been moved to the left hand side of the front ash tray ? Regards Richard .

It's just a 302 fastback, but being a Mopar man and not liking anything from the US with a ford badge makes it hard to get enthusiastic, if it had been a 69 Charger or Roadrunner with a Helcat crate motor in tow then it would tearing down the strip by now.

I must admit that I prefer good British engineering, that's why I am enjoying getting into it with The Scimitar. I didn't know anything about them
before but I'm impressed , must have made a big impression on the market when they arrived.

with a ford engine
IIRC (and the brain cells might be a bit rusty) back in the day Ford had a good reputation, Vauxhalls rusted away, and BL products were indescribable.
Ford engines were (and still are?) bombproof (Except for the fibre camshaft idler!!!)
Good luck with the project.
