If you’re after one to restore anyway, I’d suggest contacting the Club registars direct - when I was one, cars would be offered to me on a regular basis. They might be able to point you in the direction..but maybe only if you were a club member..

Thanks Phil,

Appreciate the support and advice.

I will research membership and costs etc.....

I have previously sought club memberships once i have purchased a vehicle rather than before....Maybe I am going the wrong way about things?

Having been pipped already on numerous auctions and private purchases, I am still convinced that a 5 or 6 is something I would like to own and restore.

Thanks all

Well that was a surprise , add on auction costs , transport home ect before you do anything , not something I would contemplate with series 6s coming up on the web at regular intervals , go with Phil s advice in my viewpoint Regards Richard .

Be carefull of the "pipped at the post " syndrome ,I had the same situation prior to getting my 5a , it nearly made me make some rash decisions that I would now regret , stand back a little and the right one will come along . Richard .

Phil's advice is good - bought both my last Scimmies through club contacts. Not regretted either. Sound cars with known club history. Priceless.

Not wishing to confuse the matter further ,however , you would like something to rebuild from scratch ? something that has character but you can put your own stamp on ? something that would have easy maintenance and the body would not rot ? something you do not see every day , and might just be in price range and not that far away . Got you hooked , look at Anglia car auctions , 20 /21 june , a bird from a very hot area . Richard .

Thanks all,

Yes Richard you are correct.

Unfortunately I can only see the SE5a @ £5,500 - £6,500?

I have set my Budget at £1,000 for a base car including fees and transport etc and the car to have an engine.

This may be wishful thinking I hear you cry but these are my guidelines that I am trying to work to without the project getting out of hand.....There is time for that later. :D

Thanks again all and I am sure you are all thinking I'm crazy but these are the cards I have been dealt in terms of funds available.

Looking at what I have placed bids on recently, It appears I am not that far off the mark and need to continue to be patient

James

Your £1000 budget seems realistic to me, for a full restoration project.

Thanks Richard,

I don't think I'm at that level of restoration I'm afraid.

I keep thinking I am biting off more than I can chew with my proposed project. :D :D but we all have to start somewhere!
