Hi Guys
Just joined as a first step in my Big Plan.
My world revolves around Riley cars, specifically the RM series. In fact I ran one of the specialist businesses for them for 30+ years (Lundegaard if anyone is interested).
Having retired, and having disposed of the vast majority of my premises, I had a huge disposal of cars and projects, leaving me with just a handful of RMs, only one of which is on the road. By the skin of its teeth I might add - it has been outside during the turmoil and is in dire need of a respray, which will happen as soon as I have built a suitable workshop on the withered remains of my property empire.
So, while the RMF is dismantled, I need a replacement tug for my caravan.
I have long fancied a Scimitar, and view my circumstances as an opportunity rather than a crisis. A wanted advert will be prepared directly.
Like many prospective owners, I have never sat in a Scimitar, let alone drive one. Will I cope with the power? Will I cope with the flashing indicators? Only time will tell.

Welcome :)

Whereabouts are you located? Your best bet would be to get to know local owners (hopefully there's a local Noggin - monthly meeting - close by) and see which one suits you best..

Thanks guys.
North Mancheter. The mean streets of Blackley (topical comment - no, I'm not a fake funeral director - google funerals Blackley for more info).
I am a big believer in the "owners club" system, being embedded in the Riley RM Club for 40+ yrs so took the club route as a first step. I scan the free ads but will wait to see what transpires RSSOCwise.
My nearest noggin would seem to be in south Cumbria, though if anyone close to me fancies a monthly club night I can talk to you about the Riley RM/multimake meet every 2nd Wednesday near Bury.

The South Lakes crew are an active lot and there's also the very active High Peak noggin - they cast their net over to Rochdale even if their meet is in the Chapel-en-le-Frith area.

Welcome! :D

As Phil says, the High Peak noggin are probably your nearest - there's a list here with contact details

Coincidentally, I know a number of Riley RM people through my local multi-marque club, and they are very nice cars too, (but I'm about 300 miles away from you on the South Coast, so that's no help).

Hi Alec

I'm not too far away in Ashton-under-Lyne. Got 5 at the moment but had several 6s over the years. Pulled all sorts with them including the odd caravan.

6 series manual some with power steering later 6a

I occasionally go to the high peak noggin it's not that far once you've done the m60 up to Hattersley.

Good luck with your search

Ben

Yes no problem if you want to look over a 5, sprint car ss1 or a work inprogress coupe lol. I work in Middleton probably 5 minutes from you!

Hi, and welcome.
You need to get over to Newhey and introduce yourself to Speedy.
BTW didn't I see you in the Limit back in the '60s? :)

Yes Phillip, that visit is on the cards. I am in contact with David over a smaller marque of fibreglass car also beginning with "R".

You have the better of me with "the Limit". What ale is it? In the 1960s I was still in Cornwall where I grew up.

Sorry for not replying sooner.
The Limit was a Discoteque in Middleton, not far from Blakeley, Thursday nights were popular as they didn't charge girls any entry fee.
Then again, Cornwall was fun in those days too.
Happy days...

An update:
Through the kind offices of David Speed, I tried to insert my present wife into a Scimitar 5A.
Disaster.
Her unique body shape and inability to bend had the poor arthritic old dear in agony. She said that there is no way she would be able to travel in a Scimitar for any distance at all, never mind the extensive trips we sometimes make in pursuit of the hedonistic Riley RM Club lifestyle.
So I retain my desire to own one sometime, but unfortunately not whilst in my present relationship. To put it another way, if you see me driving my Scimtar, take off your hat as a mark of respect to the departed.
