SCIMITAR V8 LEXUS

Post by DARK STAR » Sat May 29, 2010 8:25 pm

I don't know if it's old news,
but I came across this (when I was looking for something else, as usual)
which looks very well thought-out ...

Cheers
Chris

On the road I don't drive fast, but I don't slow down for corners
In competition I drive very fast, but not always on the track ...

Interesting, Chris. I wasn't aware of the website. However, I have met them and the car, a couple of the early trackdays that they refer to (pre-transplant) were trackdays that I was doing as well, though by luck of the draw we never ended up on track together. Looks an interesting swap, seems to have needed a fair bit of bulkhead hacking by the look of it. Should make a very nice package when it's finished.

This caught my attention: "The suspension was upgraded, the old Triumph trunnions were replaced with Jag ball joints ..."

Mmmm, I noticed that too, and the big Jag Calipers looked pretty good. I wonder if they bolt straight on and work on the solid disc ok.

Nope, they are ventilated. Hubs might be original though.

More puzzlingly, the uprights look original, too.

I suspect (based on the glimpses you can see in a couple of the shots) that in order to swap the trunnions they may also have changed the uprights, which would then give you different caliper fittings.

Hmmm Taggers, good job we're not witnesses in a murder trial......... :?

Our notes crossed, I thought the uprights looked a bit more "solid" than standard, but you can only see small glimpses, in most photos they're hidden behind the discs.

I'll have to keep a look out for them around Goodwood, as Steve says, I don't ever remember them appearing on here.
