Diesel Dick lack of lube

I’d question if you need a cooler at all; maybe in a P100 dragging half a ton of junk in the back but personally I’d use the advances in oil technology over the last 30 years instead. What’s the original oil spec for those - 15W40? Go for a 15W/50 or even a 10W60 instead. I can’t see you getting to the temperature to affect the oils ability to do it’s job, even with an oil/air cooled turbo.

I wouldn’t bother with the oil heat exchanger, they are fitted to aid warm up as much as they fitted to cool the oil.

13 days waiting for my expensive gaskets from Autodoc, and they still haven't sent them yet
In the meantime a plea on the P100 Facebook page came up with a nos Ford item for £15. Arrived today, but knowing their rarity at least I've a chance of selling my auto doc one when it eventually arrives!
Repaired my roll hoop bottom now too with some salvaged bits from a scrapper, and a length of solid bar from next doors scrap bin to sleeve it with. Better than new :D

Well the small oil filter arrived, but unfortunately not small enough to fit with the cooler. Removing the cooler leaves me with a female fitting like the filter. Tried a few adaptations but cant seem to make it work, so the remote kit is looking more likley now :(
Should have just put it back to an essex....spent £500 so far just trying to make it all work right and service it :w
Better still, I should have sold it

The threaded stud might come out of the oil cooler and fit into the filter housing?

It does, but unfortunatley about 4.5" long and only a tiny bit of thread at each end.

What about the one from the non-turbo housing?...they're only a threaded insert in any oil pump/filter housing.

I'll take a look. The main housing is the same, and is actually part of the oil pump. The turbo has an adapter fitted which is where the turbo oil feed comes from, then the cooler, then filter.

Thanks again....must be my age or paint fumes as I would have thought of that solution myself a year or two back

Anyway, spare engine in turbo guide, minus cooler, the circled bit being the turbo variant adaption
