Ok, so whilst work continues on the car, GT Evolution appear to have discovered well-hidden evidence of the car possibly having been blue originally! A complete surprise, especially as I had convinced myself from looking carefully around that car that must have left the factory in its current Nevada Yellow.

So, question is, how can I find out more about the car's history, original factory colour, etc? Via the plate info, club SE5a registrar, other records (DVLA has it as "yellow")?

Thanks for the pointers. This will be interesting!

Cheers
Cliff

I’ve not seen any blue anywhere else on the body yet, this was under the headlamp nests which look like they’ve never been removed before..

Paul, that's weird isn't it? Looking at original colour charts on sporting-reliants.com, it doesn't look any of the original GTE blues, although always hard to tell from photos of old colour charts!

My first GTE which was on an ‘N’ plate was that colour and there’s a concours one the same owned by Malcolm?

Oh, I don't know Malcolm, but would love to see some pics....

And I wonder if any club/register info can confirm if blue was the original colour? Slightly bummed if blue not yellow

Any evidence that it’s had a s/h repair section fitted?

Could well be, as that car was very original it seems, so likely the original colour. Looks like Venetian Blue from Paul's photos, although I haven't really found anything else that clearly shows that colour. I don't mind that blue, but not sure it goes so well with a tan interior.... :?

Or, out of interest, is this Venetian Blue?
