i had an issue with one of the bellhousing bolts landing on top of the plate bolt so i made this clamp to get round it - should be fine - all the other bolts are ok and the 2 locating dowls fit perfect

the Tdi is a tiny engine and it's tight as hell, i don't know how people manage to get 6cyl and V8 engines in there

i think i'm gonna have some problems shutting the bonnet - looks like i'll have to chop the inlet down or at least bin the EGR, but i'll see how it goes difficult to get an exact measurement now

hopefully that's all i need to do - looks close on the sump too :?

Looks like it needs to go back so the sump clears? The crank pulley is only just over the crossmember as standard.

Fixed the pic.

I think moving it back to clear the sump will solve your bonnet clearance issue too? My straight six has no bulkhead or heater!

I do recall having a giggle when I learned the only Jaguar XF with a “power bulge” in the bonnet was the 2.2 Diesel, being the only 4-pot. This is a car that goes up to a supercharged V8 too.

Get it further back and dropped down the back of the crossmember and that should help your height issue. Just keep an eye on the sump and how much sticks out the bottom.

To get the last inch of clearance to level things up, I had to trim the tunnel on my 5a; where the front ashtray sits there’s a “divot” in the fibreglass which pokes down into the tunnel and might stop the gearbox sitting where you think it should have. Just chop it out but the centre console fixing bracket sits in this divot so will need a little adjusting too. This was on the Scimega though - different gearbox where the gear-lever is actually mounted on the body (not direct to the box like the Mazda boxes) so gearbox position was quite critical.

Looking good,
Precision clutches made me a brand new plate for about £80. They’ll do them with whatever centre drive /diameter you want. And almost next day service.
The bulk head has several layers /skins. Don’t worry about cutting / trimming. I took out two skins for my Vauxhall transplant

Is we sideways yet...
