Well i've got it in, bit of work and it's very tight :)

ignore the spare it was off a honda jazz just to trial it, was the closest thing to the size i want to fit
ideally i'd like to swap to 15" wheels with 205/50R15 on the front and 225/45R15 on the back so i could get a 175/65R14 spare that would be the same rolling radius, this one is 175/65R15 so about 1" bigger but at least if this fits the one i want will. my original spare was a 205/70R14 and wouldn't even fit with the essex in without letting the tyre down -so no chance now.

still not worked out where everything is going to go but if i can i'll fit a slimline fan between the rad and the engine - i've got about 60mm before the rack gets in the way

i think i'll put the air filter and intercooler in front of the rad - there isn't much space for a scooby style one and i don't know if it'd be as effective there

you can just see the rad through all that

and this is the alternator issue - still not sure if the smaller one will fit - i managed to get the top mount in on this one just to have it in place while deciding where to route all the water pipes. water pipes will have to go one over and one under the alt.

earlier on in the thread i mentioned that the vw oil filter/cooler housing fouled the chassis leg, well this is my solution to it.
I've tried a few relocate ideas but in the end i've decided to use the original one I'm making a spacer place to pack it out from the block

i've made 2 plates and bolted one to each - hopefully the way i understand it there are 4 ports, main oil feed in (lower right) main oil feed out, smaller one to head (upper ones) and the lower left one is to drain to the sump for when the filter is removed

held the filter in position and tacked some sprags in - weldings not great i was holding this in place while trying to get a good angle with the mig but it doesn't matter these will be cut off they are only to get the angle right

removed the filter and now removed the adaptor - next step is to weld in the 4 joining pipes.

thanks :)

after all the messing about trying to find a smaller alt i decided to fit the original one and make a new bracket for it - luckily i have a spare bare block which i used to jig this up

still needs finishing off back lug mounts and some strength welding in but i can get the alt in the correct position and it fits with about 10mm gap to the upright now

i put the tensioner in the original position and in hindsight i should have made it higher up so now unfortunately i'll have to remove the tensioner when changing the alt but thats easy to do, on the plus side i can now easly convert the top bolt so i can remove that without the strut brace getting in the way

That's quite some 3-D imagining you are carrying out there 8) Well done - can't wait to see how it drives :D

yeah me too - i drove a 130ps 1.9tdi polo the other day same which is a similar weight to the Scimitar and it went like stink - if the scim goes as well as that i'll be smiling

other progress i'm making a full stainless exhaust from the turbo back 2.25" unfortunately it won't be twin exit pipes like the V6 had but not much i can do about that

i'm thinking of making it straight through with one back box and as its only small have no flex pipe so its all one piece- if its bad vibration wise i can add a flex pipe in.

start of it - welded with the mig as i've not got a tig

I’d try it without a silencer first? I was also going to split the pipe ahead of the axle and restore the twin pipe zen :D

i started on dropping the fuel tank earlier and was looking at that - there is space for it to go through but i'm not sure the twin pipe is worth the hassle

what i might do is get it running with no silencer and see how it sounds - if its ok then run it all the way to the back like it

I though the unwritten rule was anyone with a single pipe exhaust must be 3”? Turbo is no silencer? Can’t remember what Drew fitted on his 5-pot 6a.

Don’t you just these 3D jigsaws?

Especially ones like this which don’t have a picture on the box either

old petrol tank off and new stainless one ready for an 8mm return line fitting in, i'm not sure which way to go with the supply pump i was thinking fit the golf in tank one in the tank but i'm not sure if it's the best way i also don't have a swirl pot in the tank
