If you fancy rebuilding it, I imagine it’s only the body that’s damaged? If I get to the workshop anytime soon, I’ll have a look in my box of dizzies.

G if your careful you can go up a size on the screws and just open the holes up in the cap very carefully.
Done a couple to help salvage seized and snapped screws.
Never has a CVH dizzy so can`t tell what size screws they are though.

now the rivets are out the holes are elongated, no trace of a thread and an m5 stud slides in and out, I hope to do what Mark suggests but the holes look rather large already I will wait for the cap to arrive and see. If you find a similar numbered dissie Jim let me know.

I just don’t like bike carbs on car engines. Air speed is all wrong so you’re blocking this off, increasing that, they are very twitchy about the angle they run at and the fuel pressure they receive.

Probably an improvement over a knackered Weber but so would a new/refreshed Weber (or pair).

well my moment of clumsiness has led to a change of plans for my summer runaround, I have always had a convertible of some type, last year the 1400 was the convertible of choice it was a great little car but I felt it needed a few more horses on some of the hills I regularly use. I had used a 3.0l z3 for a few years before the sst but I succumb to an offer I couldn't really refuse, I knew the sst would be lacking :D but what it lost in performance it gained in the handling I did enjoy using it. I also like tinkering with a project over winter getting it ready for the next summer hence the purchase of VVV. Alternative plans were put in place but again due to my injury I can't do things I took for granted previously. The repair to VVV and any engine swaps or tinkering are out the window for now so I rooted out the sabre ti from the back of the garage. Quick service, fuel change, wash, check over and mot pass and she is back on the road and still looks presentable.
I had a stupid cheesy grin all the way home from the test centre and essential food shop... I forgot how great these are. She has an accelerator like a "hair pin trigger" which I don't remember but this will settle I'm sure with some use or I will get used to it. The SST will take up the place vacated by the sabre in the garage next to the 5, the coupe, the ..... I did say I like the spanner work more than the use didn't I  :D
