Does any one know if the chevette upright with Carlton brakes fit inside the standard bottletop alloy? or do I need to fit a larger diameter wheel.

thanks

I have uprights and discs, but don’t think I have a volvo caliper to check?

Never had bottle tops, but I can confirm that 13" steel wheels fit over them, if that helps?

Which car are you doing?, never got around to doing VVV, hence the damaged nose  :hand:
It has the EBC Green Stuff pads, Quote Perfect for lightweight vehicles, up to 15% Improvement in braking, UnQuote. :w
VVV has New H/Brake and shoes etc at the back, and the front calipers now have the pistons freed up so all 8 are working.
Ran out of fully reconditioned Vented Calipers, but have a set of the shims to centre them. :cloud:

From memory the ribs on the back of the faces of the bottle cap alloys catch on the Volvo calipers.

They don’t catch on all - I think that’s the minor difference between the two castings? I tried one wheel and they didn’t catch; tried another and they did. This was the difference between what I think was the original rims on #121 and NOS rims from GW in the mid 90’s

I think it only took a 3mm spacer to sort it though - possibly 5mm max.

Might also depend on what washers you do/don’t use to centralise the calliper on the disc and if it’s the 20mm or 23mm discs too?

cheers Guys.

Mark, its not for VVV, my little mishap has meant a change in plans for the car as I can't physically repair the nose damage until I have some more free movement.
I am looking at improving the 1400's brakes before fitting a 1.9 cvh that has found its way into my garage again it won't be done for a while though.

I have been buying bits for a 1.9 cvh so when it goes in I have everything to hand. I believe it is an American block (but may be wrong). I came across an interesting "get you home" repair attaching the distributor cap....couple of pop rivets. new cap is on the way but it looks like the threads in the alloy housing no longer exist. Does any one know the thread size so I can get a helicoil kit? or is there a better option.

I have tried to find a new dissie to match the current one. The number is 89sf 12100 (which I understand to be year and generic code for CVH distributor) BA1CB (which is the important bit for identifying the exact part). Does any on know what the last 5 number mean? or know a company who identify it and supply one.

thanks
