Will's GTC disasters

Thanks Jim, I've got both 2.8 and 2.9 pumps but i need the brackets, the joy of buying an engine in bits, if you or anyone has a picture of one I can fabricoble one up, and I still need a rough idea of how the belts run, thanks again.

On a side note, does any one know of a better injector to use on the 2.9, I'm going to use a canems ecu, if they ever get back to me, so originality is not important. I wanted a bosch ev14 type injector but I can't find one the right height, anyone out there been here before? I got an original set from the states, but they turned out to be chinese (how much postage have I paid?) and I don't think at 152cc they will deliver what a free flowing engine needs, without a serious pressure increase on a 30 year old rusty pressed steel fuel rail.

Sorry Jim, all the 12v 2.9s I’ve been involved with ran the original injectors (one had higher fuel pressure and modified air flow meters)

152cc injectors will give you around 37 bhp per cylinder - so about 200bhp for a V6.

Thanks Phil, but they are Chinese, Mostplus is the brand name, not what the ebay seller said they were, I guess I'll have to test them to see if they are anywhere near what they are meant to be. I was just hoping there was a modern Bosch injector that fitted.

Hi All, I've had a busy couple of weeks on the Scimi, so I thought I'd post a few pics. First up is the underside of the body, I thought I should paint it while the chassis is off, but once washed it looked quite good in black gel coat, just a patch to do on the drivers side footwell

All went well and it is now down and covered again. After that I moved back to the engine, it's almost done, but the old EV1 injectors,
were really worrying me. So after a quick chat with a bosch motor sports dealer I decided to go with the EV 14 CL injectors which are the right length and diameter.

These Injectors have a much better spray pattern, atomizing the fuel not just pouring it in like the EV1s, so hopefully more power and better econemy. The only problem is they need a 12.6mm deep top mount not the 9mm on the ford fuel rail.

So I came up with a cunning plan, cut and shut 3mm off the end of of an old fuel rail caps, they don't have to be fuel tight, just hold the clip and injector in place.

Once I get a new non rusty Fuel rail from Specialized engines I'll weld it all up and hopefully the jobs a good'n. last thing to do is rig up all the senders then I can stick the engine in the chassis and pop the body on, then at last I might feel like I'm getting somewhere.

In a change of plan specialized engines came up with what I asked them for in the first place, very pricey, but it came with a manifold I already had.... Grrrr

Now the new injectors arn't going anywhere. I couldn't resist a little die grinding.

It's half an inch higher now, total engine engine height, if its a bonnet problem I'll take it off the bottom of the plenem, otherwise I'll have better bottom end.

Now I just have to rig up an injecter test bed, to see if they all put out roughly the same per squirt, I need a fuel reg and high pressure pump first, any recommendations anyone?

Generic eBay inline HP pumps seem to be fine but regulators can be hit and miss (I went for Malpassi filter king).

Thanks Jim, I like the Malpassi with the gauge on the top, that could be the one. Now to figure out a way of mounting it to the O-ring hole in the injector rail.
