Probably my lack of involvement with moderns is why I've never met it. Maybe manufacturers feel it reduces the risk of random interference at the vehicle/consumer interface?

It is much nicer to use Roger and as designed for looming, the adhesive is not going to attack the insulation. I would not go back to conventional loom tape after using it.

It's sort of a "low tack" for want of a better phrase - sticks well enough but doesn't turn it into a sticky mess?

Not much more achieved, too much other work to complete. However yesterday I looked at the retrimmed T bar again and with help from a friend, decided it was not good enough so it was ripped off. Then followed 2 days of trying to remove the adhesive from the T bar, including hidden (now) areas like under the windscreen rubber.

A little tinkering under the bonnet to shorten the vacuum switch wiring. It needed cutting back so far that I have decided to move its location instead. It will likely end up under the bonnet stay mounting with conduited cable along the heat shield and along the offside chassis rail.

Vacuum switch now back in its original position. I thought it was a bit daft to loom all the way around the engine bay, when I can just modify the loom.
Spare wheel now JUST fits with a 185/70 tyre fitted, so that's good. Bonnet latch now fitted and adjusted correctly, leaving just the underbonnet light to sort. That will have a tilt switch and be fed from the parking light circuit. I am thinking about what should be on this weekend. Maybe floor insulation and / or central locking installation.

I'm a bit overtired so got on with the insulation today as it doesn't consume too much brain power. ;-)

Nice work - what are you using for the insulation?

It is 20mm closed cell, self adhesive and foil top layer. The foil is bonded to earth in the interests of interference suppression. It came from carinsulation.co.uk but they don't seem very interested in business now for some reason. Luckily I may just have enough to finish the job.

Cheers - never thought about bonding it to the earth.

Mike.

The issue will be in bonding across panels. I bought some foil tape with conductive adhesive, except that it wasn't! Then the insulation supplier ran out of the excellent tape I had only bought one roll of when I needed two. The tape I am using now has good adhesive, but is very flimsy, so in places I have had to double up thickness.
