Today I fitted the nose support. I couldn't find a way to get it positioned with the nose fitted (until I had finished!) so I got it off and roped in a friend to help. It was quite a struggle, but it is in there now.

Car was put up on the lift to sort a coolant leak, so I tried the speedo, which gives a reading although a bit erratic below 30MPH indicated. No idea what the speed actually is because it needs calibration.

That was five hours work, so not much to show for it.

It's all jobs ticked off :-)

I spent 5 hours swapping a drivers seat in G97 today and still have one bolt to fit back into the rollcage (if I can find the bolt I threw across the workshop after struggling for an hour :-))

This weekend I have been mostly playing with electrics...

All rear end lighting and electrics are now working. I did have to take part of the loom apart again to rectify an error.
Washer bottle properly fitted into the driver's side rear cubby and wired / tested.
Boot illumination wired and working.
Front end wiring completed and all working.
Front auxilliary lamps wired and working.
Bilge blower fans installed properly and wired as two speed using one relay each side to switch them into series / parallel.
H4 LED bulbs installed and give impressive performance.
H1 LED bulbs for inners rejected because the location pips are missing. I will look for some alternatives.

New wooden steering wheel arrived damaged sadly.

Twin speed operation has been retained quite simply by wiring them in series through relays that restore full power when activated. A bit simpler than the PWM variable speed module that I was going to use and looks original in the dash.

Out in the sunshine. Outer headlamps are H4 LED in Cibie shells. Inners are Halogen on Cibie shells.

LED headlights look good!

Are they a straight swap, or is it more complicated than that? :?

Cheers,

Jez.

Straight swap. No ballasts, just a connection straight into the standard bulb socket.

What's the spread of light like, as I've read that some of the led bulbs scatter light all over the road?

It isn't the bulb so much as the bowl and lens. I have found Cibies to be fine, Wipac Quadoptic not bad. Looking at the pattern on the wall, it looks fine.

Today I have made up the wiring loom for the electric mirrors. Ford switch to Jaguar mirrors. Also have installed one of the audio crossovers.

Centre dash panel has been cut out for the Ford mirror switch and for the new radio. Loom for the mirrors and the audio feeds has been made up and everything trial fitted...

This seems such an obvious and easy upgrade there *must* be a catch...

I guess the SE6x/SE8 won't have any RAMBUS issues, but would an MB? And is there any problem likely with a dim/dip module fitted?

Thanks

Middlebridge electrics are just the same as a 6b, as far as the headlamps go. Dim dip may cause the bulbs to flash if in that mode but just disable it!
