Ignition lock is shared in common with an MG Midget.
I just took a look at Midget ignition locks and they do look the same, but there’s a lot of different model numbers knocking around. Are they all the same? Is it the whole mechanism, i.e. the steering lock as well, or just the ignition lock?

Thanks,
Chris

I fitted a second hand one off an MG midget 1500 during my rebuild in 2011, (my car is also a 1972 5a.) I Bought the switch via ebay. I used the whole unit, Steering Lock, Barrel and key. The Lucas ignition switch fits into the back and is retained by a small screw.

On very late 5a's (1975) the the steering lock it may be slightly different, as there were a few cars at the end of the production run where the ignition key was in a slightly different position. Enough to mean Reliant altered the dashboard to suit it.

Thanks Joe, that’s on my ever growing list of things to buy now!

Another tangent from me, is there a list which shows which bits are compatible with bits from other cars to save me asking you all lots of questions?

Thanks again,
Chris
