Really surprised to see hardly any use of protective gloves. And most competitors wearing rings too.

I never, ever wear my wedding ring when working on my cars - even if the battery is disconnected. Is it just me?

No, Chris. I nearly lost a finger falling from a Hawker Hunters cockpit! It's not just electrics and finger rings that cause problems, mine caught on the cockpit rails on my way down!

When I started my engineering apprenticeship, we were shown photos of people who'd "de-gloved" their fingers after catching rings in something. The photo's were nicely staged, with the boney finger, with the ring above it and the neatly removed skin above the ring. The image has stuck with me! I guess thst was the idea.

As a ex HGV driver I knew a guy that jumped down from a AEC Mamoth Major in the early 70,s and caught his ring in the outside door handle . It was messy !
