What ho chaps!
'Tis now exactly 6 months time 'til Curbs 2009 so, what do you need to do to your cars before the BIG weekend?

To kick off, I think mine is to start on the interior of my 5a, although this should be done prior to the show season in May time'ish!
I guess the second most important thing to prepare is the booze locker in the caravan and the bullsh*t box that contains the polish, autosol, etc etc!
Can't wait!

Never been and I'm not likely to be there this year as the Andrex puppy's running around with my to-do list.

looks good to me Matt, well done Sir! 8)
a few more car pics may lead the uninitiated to realise we are a car club and not a fancy dress club from the 70s! good idea to show the clubs fun side, but maybe just tweak the balance.

sprint vid doesnt work for me either.

may be worth speaking to Dave Poole for some more up to date vids too. sure a request would bring loads of pics and vids from the masses if you ask them nicely. im hoping to get all the compies from the 09 season to pool any pics and vids from this year for a montage for the NEC show this year too.

maybe a car sticker of the site too for members to put in their windows to advertise the site and event? if we got them done pronto then they would have 6 months ish exposure before this years event, and would advertise all further sprint events there too. the scimitars are back there on October 3rd this year as well.

Ta very much squire, I know what you mean about the 70's disco theme but I simply don't have any photos of the sprinting, concours etc, hence beginning promotion within our ranks at this early point in the year. If you have some to create a better balance, please send them in to me.

I did purposefully avoid asking for help etc before the NEC as Jim said he didn't want to detract from that event. I will now concentrate on getting this site well populated and well promoted.

Does anyone have contacts for very cheap car stickers?

In the meantime, all those of us with scim related website could add a prominent link and hopefully everyone will benefit from all the increased exposure.

I'm in touch with Dave Poole so I'll see how many vids he has, in the meantime I might remove the one of the green meanie as it only seems to work for me on my mac (didn't work on my works PC either)

cheers, Matt

p.s. I'll copy this email to the new thread directly related to the site so we don't hijack this one too much

Guys and girls,
On the Sunday evening at Curbs 2008 there was quite a number of people who ended up in the marquee who were eating/drinking/socialising.
(I think there were about 40 at the last count!) possibly because of the weather :(
It's become a bit of a tradition that the Trunnion Bashers "remnants" have a Sunday dinner and all eat together in the marquee.

So here's the suggestion.......why not add a "Candlelit dinner / get together" in the marquee to the weekends itinerary? Candlelit 'cos there won't be any generator running so bring your candles/torches/Tilley lamps!
As previously mentioned, quite a few people ended up getting tables and chairs out and having the "last night at Curbs supper" and reminiscing over the weekends antics.

If it were a goer, then it should be stated that the marquee is to be left clear and all tables and chairs restacked ready for the Monday morning....

Whaddyathink??

Hi Kev, I was one of those who gathered in the gloom. My immediate reaction at the time when I discovered that there was no generator was that it was a shame, but it wasn't a problem and in fact the atmosphere was great and I think a good time was had by all. I'm planning to be there again on the Sunday night this year, so I'd certainly be up for a repeat :P .

cheers,

....Roger

was the genny collected on Sunday, did we just not turn it on, or had we packed the lighting away?

Ran out of hours - and nearly ran out of diesel as well  Hours = money...

Might be able to run a few lights off the baby petrol genny instead?
