But arguably the diesel generator runs at a stable optimum and the electric motor powering the variable demand of the vehicle is far more efficient than the equivalent IC engine.

Be interesting to see the worked calculations of it I suppose, my betting is that even accounting for the losses it's a more economical / less polluting use of energy.

There’s a picture floating around of the AA equivalent which is a generator on a trailer for charging up flat electric vehicles..

Where do people think we get our electricity from in the first place? I love the figures quoted by government of how much green electricity we produce....it's quoted as a percentage of average consumption. Wonder if people realise we need three to four times the generation power than that at peak times and guess how that's created?

A case of technology going full circle perhaps, rather like the diesel-electric railway locomotives of the late Fifties/early Sixties:

Bloody windmills will never recoup their build costs, and we all know how difficult GRP/Composit materials are to recycle.
We are all being hoodwinked. :w

My favourite one is energy suppliers stating you only get green energy when they bill you as if theres a giant junction box they can flick so that Dave only gets green energy..............

We've got a wind generator, and it's not the heavy horses!
