Rear axle

Post by markpin » Sun Jul 28, 2019 10:46 am

Hi

I have just been asked about selling my spare rear axle. It's from a 1977 6a . I haven't ever heard it on the road or looked at it properly.
Any idea how much I should expect for it? How do I quickly find out which type of axle it is?

Thanks

Here's an example of Jaguar 4HA axle currently on eBay:

Seems expensive to me but may give a benchmark.

Thanks for the links, it gives me an idea of how to list my one.

In fact I have just worked out that I have 5, two on the cars I'm keeping and at least one more I should keep as a spare. That means that I might have two to sell!

Mind you, they are both untested as neither car was every driven on the road. Why do they have value when logically you can strip one down and put new bearings into it reasonably easily? Surely thats the logical way to go with an axle rather than pay good money for one which could be worn out inside anyway?
