2009 Scrappage Scheme Victims

Post by Will Anderson » Sun Jun 02, 2019 12:23 pm

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but a quick search did not throw up a specific thread.

After reading a bit in Autocar, I picked up on the FoI response to the list of cars that were part of the scrappage Scheme in 2009. This gives the numbers of Scimitars and other Reliants that formed part of the scheme. Unfortunately no registration numbers but at 22 vehicles, it could have been a lot worse.

We know of one Middlebridge (MB50) that nearly ended up in the Scrappage Scheme but thankfully was bought from the owner before she could do the deal with the garage. It is still running today and recently completed the NC500! I (seriously) don't want to reopen old wounds but I do wonder how many other perfectly useable cars were part of this scheme.

I saw a recent video on YouTube where several of these scrapoage sceme cars are still parked up on a disused runway. I did spot at least 3 ss1 amongst them.
