Daimler Dart. I don't want to say much as I know there are some owners lurking but I really can't see the appeal

I had a SSang Yong Musso in the sand in the middle east - absolutely abysmal. And a Ford Orion rental that was unbelievable twitchy - requiring constant minute adjustments to keep in lane on the motorway.

I don't even know what it was, but it was a hire car in Barbados, and I was told by the renter they are built in Barbados and it's a Barbados car brand. It was truly horrific. I think we got a respectable amount of it back to the depot.

It was like a bunch of margarine tubs strapped to a lawnmower.

Josh,I thought you liked cars where the doors came open as the chassis flexed? :D
All I know about them is that they were used as police cars on the Preston bypass before it became the M6 and Jaguar thought the engine was good enough to put into a Mk 2 body when they bought the company...and you can't call them Darts because Dodge owned the name.

And,for the benefit of any owners that might be lurking on here, you obviously love them but they really are ugly :D

...I should think a certain Mr. Johnson will be along at some point & then you'll be in trouble, Josh, m'boy!

I can't criticise your judgement because I've never been in one, let alone driven one. The Edward Turner-designed engine was supposed to be a 'jewel' for the period & by the time the 'C' model was released, they'd sorted out the doors-flying-open problem, I think. I should imagine if you'd cut your sports car teeth with a Frogeye & maybe sampled an MGA or TR3, an SP250 would have been quite a step up - particularly if you couldn't run to an XK! It's all relevant to the time - it certainly won't feel, handle or go like a Nissan-engined SS...

Porsche 911 turbo, not because it was tail 'appy, cos the peddles were so far off the floor, yer couldn't plant yer heel to act as a pivot.

I've driven quite a number of dire cars, and some of them appear to be loved classics nowadays. Mini Clubman Estate (genuine not BMW),in some ways a more practical mini, but rotted so badly under the windows on the side that it self converted into a pick up.Bond Bug (and I currently own two) my first "car". I used to get wetter than I did on the scooter it replaced. Not only do you get wet getting in and out whilst it's raining, but water collects in centre of seats when it's parked outside so you drive it sat in a puddle. As someone else brought up Daimler sp250 poor handling and never mind doors opening when moving, park with rear wheel on kerb and they don't open at all. Same problem with Lotus Europa and as that one (belonging to a friend) burnt down to a chassis due to fuel leak could have been fatal. Volvo 740 steering was so vague I'll bet the QE11 had a similar turning circle. Austin Montego Countryman, was actually much nicer to drive than the Sierra Estate that replaced it, but bit's fell off constantly and nearly decapitated me when both tailgate dampers broke! Regardless the worst ever was Ford Fiesta 1100 with constantly variable transmission, had to be parked on the level or pointing downhill as it was impossible to set off uphill, though didn't really matter as walking was quicker anyway!

Been a while since anyone posted here.....

Mine was a Chevrolet Matiz hire car about ten years ago, truly terrifying  . Almost no power below 4,500rpm then everything at once - like a highly tuned 2-stroke but with terror rather than excitement. Not a car to drive around Milton Keynes when you don't know the area.

SOLD: 1978 SE6a Auto.
1997 Ducati 900SS - Last carb. model.
SOLD: 1960 BSA Bantam D7 - more "fun" than the Ducati.
1998 Honda CG125 - great in slow traffic.
1981 Suzuki SB200 2-stroke twin - undergoing rebuild.

Lamborghini Countach! I always loved the Muira, although I had a sneaking admiration for the De Tomaso Pantera. A good friend in Jeddah had just bought a countach and I lusted after it.....one day he handed me the keys and told me to enjoy it for the weekend (thurs/fri). I hated it...it was such a disappointment, tacky fibreglass with cheap carpeting stuck on, overheated cockpit, twitchy handling and you couldn't enjoy the engine purring as tyre noise dominated....I was glad to hand it back on the Saturday!
