Photo from 2005 Birmingham Classic Car Show

Post by midscotscim » Mon Apr 07, 2014 2:16 pm

I am trying to find a picture of my black Middlebridge at the Birmingham Classic Car Show in 2005, I have been told it was on display but haven't been able to find any evidence to support this. Can any one help please.
Thanks, regards, Mark.

Slice 206 p56 has a photo of the club stand and it looks like your car may be on the end. The photos are credited to me (and I recall organising cars for that year) so I will trawl through the archives and see if I can find any more (but I have a horrible feeling that NEC photos are on a HDD that currently isn't playing ball).

Thanks Jim, appreciate the effort. My copies of Slice only go back to 209 but I'm sure somebody in the local noggin will have a 206 I can borrow.
Best regards, Mark.

can't see a MB on the line up there is a black Scim far end which I think is a 5A from the number plate location and reading the mag would have been Tony Lowe's displayed next Garry Cox's racing white 5A with a racing number - hopefully Jim may be able to drag his hard drive into life and see what other photos he can find

Received some interesting info from Will, going on adverts placed in Slice 204, and comments above, car wasn't part of the 2005 NEC.
From an old web advert, previous owner thinks it was in the Birmingham Motor Show, however it doesn't appear in any of the launch pictures I've seen.
I'll do some more digging into the car's early life and see if I can find out more.

Thankyou all for your help.

Best regards, Mark.

Do you mean the 1988 motor show? Numbers 1 & 7 were displayed there.

Mark,

It might be worth a call to Mick. I wonder if the PO's reference was to the 1989 or 90 Birmingham SuperPrix. There was a black MB there but it is likely it was No. 11 - see the entry in Mick's website gallery. However there might have been other cars too. MB had Damon Hill racing for them and apparently he used 11 after his car got nicked!

Cheers

Will

According to Mick's site, No 47 was black, and was the Birmingham Motor Show Car Sept / Oct 05. See this link. Is yours 47, Mark?

Yes, mine is number 47. There were 3 black cars, the other is number 76 but it went to the Netherlands.
I will need to write to DVLA and get a history from them, timeline from Middlebridge to Straight Eight would give a better idea of when/if it was shown.
Thanks, best regards, Mark.
