Radio turns off while idiling

That’s a new one on me! Does it still work with the ignition on (before starting)? Does the voltmeter drop at idle?

When idling its on and off constantly but when revs get up and travelling it works fine but when i slow down or come to a stand still it cuts off till i get moving again.

Must be a bad earth or poor 12v connection at the stereo. Could even be inside the stereo itself. Check the voltage at the 12v input to the stereo, if same as battery voltage with engine off, check it at idle and at revs. If all voltages at the stereo match battery voltage in these test environments then the run a new earth from the stereo. If problem persists, try a new stereo!

Agreed.....but on personal experience, could even be the power feed from the ignition. Needs to be checked for continuity under driving conditions to see or perhaps you'll be lucky and do the cable wiggle test! 🙄

You could try running an independent live feed direct from the battery (via a fuse) to see if this eliminates the issue; if it doesn't make any difference then I'd suspect internal mechanical problems with the stereo on/off switch (vibrations at tick-over, smooth operation when cruising).

It's a Scimitar, so there's every chance it could be the earth as much as the feed at fault
