Essex oil pressure feed pipe?

Post by pdedsddd » Sun Dec 08, 2019 6:39 pm

Hi everybody, heard that there is a braided pipe replacement for the old plastic oil pressure pipe. Which as I found out makes quite a mess under the bonnet😂When it breaks.
Does any body know where I can get the braided pipe & fitting for the engine block? Think the engine end is 1/8 n.p.t & pipe connection 1/8 b.s.p ???
Cheers men , Paul👍

Just remember to insulate it behind the dash board when you fit it

It`s not the Block fitting that matters, it`s the adaptor that the pipe screws onto.

There are Two distinct types.
I have one that`s Metric and another that`s Imperial. :w

I’m going through this exact scenario on another thread...... The fitting that sticks out of my block appears to have a 10 x 1.5 mm thread on. It’s too tight to remove, so I need a hose to go on it.

If you get a proper Hex socket on it it Will unscrew.
I have removed a few over the years and they have always unscrewed.
They are a very robust item.

Spoke too soon. The gauge I bought with 1/8 NPTF thread on is tapered, and the end of the oil flexi is a parallel thread.

A little work with a cut down npt tap and the flexi is now a good fit on the gauge thread, with a copper washer nipped in the gap to seal the hot runny stuff inside. 8) The pitch looks identical, so not sure what thread is in the pipe.

Hopefully.

I wish I’d taken the easy option and just levered a bit harder to get the old fitting out of the block.

Big clue in the acronym, NPTF = National Pipe TAPER Fuel, or American Dryseal, national standard TAPER pipe thread.
Designed to seal without help from other sources such as PTFE tape.

NPT is Also tapered, National Pipe TAPERED for general use.

BSP is very close to NPT, only 1 thread difference in the Inch ON 1/8" But they both use a different thread Angle, BUT they will screw together, BSP usually need some form of sealant or O ring or washer to lock and seal.

NPTF = National Pipe TAPER Fuel,
Bit pedantic, but isn't it Pipe Thread Fine?
