GTE/GTC CASTER CAMBER SHIMS

Post by Dennis Nicholas » Mon Jun 03, 2019 9:40 am

The process of setting caster and camber is well documented, but I have yet to see any specific figures relating shim size to number of degrees of setting in each case. Can anyone fill in the question marks below. Just trying to avoid trial and error time consuming fitting. I have one of the old original Dunlop CG/3 caster, camber and king pin gauge and will be using a Gunson TRAKRITE for setting toe in/out at parallel.

CAMBER. UPPER FULCRUM. ? thou extra will increase the camber by ? degrees.

CASTER. UPPER FULCRUM. ? thou moved from back to front will increase caster by ? degrees.

Dennis

Pretty sure we posted camber degrees per shim somewhere - when AJL and I were trying to sort the Swiss Middlebridge which was banana shaped.

Edit - here

That did not come up with an answer other than Oldcon's "I removed a 3mm shim from my 6a which altered camber 1 degree.
Good job I have a metric micrometer as well as an imperial one.
