I'm pretty sure TR6 is a 7/16 UNF thread, so that's a no....

I don’t think all TR6 are 7/16” - I have a TR6 steel on the coupe and it fitted straight on.

I have a set of TR6 wheels for my Sabre Six, as do one or two others. Studs are 1/2" UNF just like at least the Coupes and SE5s and as Jim says above, the TR6 wheels fit perfectly - mine are not designed for 7/16" studs. That's not to say there wasn't some variant for smaller studs, but I'm not aware of them.

I would suggest stainless rather than chrome nuts. Chrome will look great for 5 minutes, but in no time the chrome will start to peel once you've tightened and untightened them and they'll quickly look a mess. Bill Brighton (club member on here) on here makes the best stainless wheel nuts and he knows Scimitars so you'll know they'll fit and last, or if you want something a little cheaper without a mirror finish then I bought the ones below from ebay for everyday/rally use. This was a couple of years ago and the link doesn't work anymore so this is a pic, but I'm sure they're still available. Correct size to fit TR6 wheels to 1/2" UNF studs as used on the Scimitar range:

Well, This thread on the TR Register TR6 Forum seems to confirm 7/16 UNF for nuts to be used for alloy wheels.

On Rimmer's website here (TR6 alloys), they appear to confirm 7/16 UNF for alloy wheels.

But, on Rimmers website here (TR6 steels), alongside the wheels they list nuts and "studs, for steel wheels only" They don't mention the thread size - could it be the steels are different? :w (maybe the alloys use the same thread/studs as used to secure the wire wheel hub adaptors????)

That's odd Roger. My wheels are definitely TR6 steels, they fit and the nuts I linked are correct - I can't speak for alloys.

Yes, that's the thing, I *suspect* that what Rimmers are saying is that steels are a different size, and need to have their own dedicated studs, etc. They don't specify the size, but it could well be 1/2, which would tie in with yours and Jim's experience. :)

During that era, steels would generally have taper nuts (I see 60 degree mentioned, which is pretty common) but alloys would generally have sleeve-type nuts such as the Dunlops fitted to the 5a.

I was only aware of steel rims for the TR6 from the factory. That’s not to say you can’t buy alloys off the shelf for them as well we know.

If they’re TR6 nuts, they’ll be wrong. If they’re GTE steel wheel nuts, you’ll be OK. Also XJ6 with steel wheels, I think?
