MoT and headlight dip

I've got another three reflector units somewhere in my spares stash. All from E Bay at different times over the years. When I get a chance I'll line them up and compare them.

Have you confirmed your units should take the P43t (style) bulb rather than the H4 (which the original SS1 units DO take)?
Not yet Phil. I'll look at that before I buy.

MoT and headlight dip

Many thanks all Looks as if we have got to the bottom of it this time. I have always just assumed the bulbs should be H4, so over the years that's what I've fitted when needed. Looks like I've been wrong all this time   Just checked on line, my local Halfords have the correct bulbs ( as ...

MoT and headlight dip

You mentioned this previously here Keith :) Hi Jim Yes, as I said I had this problem with my 1600 at an earlier MoT. Never got to the bottom of it then so when it came up again I thought I'd have another go at understanding what's going on. As I said, it's not causing much of a problem, I just want...

MoT and headlight dip

Thanks Phil

That does seem a more likely explanation than LHD units. When I get a chance I'll have a look at the bulb location and try to compare it with the drivers side.

MoT and headlight dip

Just back with a nice new MoT for my 1400 :D :D No advisories, but a couple of little niggles during the test. Initially failed emissions, high CO, but its an " old school " country garage I've used for the last 20 years so a little tweak of the carb while it was on the analyser brought it back into...

SS1 master cylinder

Have to agree with the others, £15 for a pair of special, hard to find, screws isn't unreasonable. Picked up my calipers from Biggred in Worcester this morning, they look rather better than when I dropped them off last week. Now fitted and system bled, on the basis of a short test drive I think that...

SS1 master cylinder

The two screws holding the reservoir on are totally knackered, rusted solid. I’ve managed to get them out but now I need two more.Cheers, Nigel. I found these little b.....s were the hardest part of the job, I managed to get mine out in a reusable condition but it took a lot of time and was touch a...

SS1 master cylinder

I bought a seal kit to rebuild my master last week from QRG. Cost a fairly eye watering £48 ( + VAT I think ) However I just logged on to post a question and found your post, my question could be relevant. I believe the SS1 master is from the Austin Princess???? Would be good if someone could confir...

SS1 master cylinder rebuild attempt

Hi Mark Where did you get your seal kit from? This morning I re sealed the master from my 1400 with a kit from QRG. The kit Nigel supplied had 14 rubber parts ( seals, O rings etc ), pretty much like the kit I had from him for my 1600 last summer. Last year I spent quite a bit of time and worry conv...

Potentially dumb question - SS1 sunroof

That worked a treat. Knob was reluctant to turn, but with a bit more effort (and pushing up at the same time ) the sunroof opened.

Thanks both.

I'll give it a go in the morning, assuming the weather holds.

Potentially dumb question - SS1 sunroof

Hi all The soft top on my 1600 is getting past it's best ( cracked screen, some stitching coming apart ) so last week I took it of for repair and fitted the hard top for the winter. Since then of course the weather has been lovely and I'm missing the top down driving. My hard top has a sunroof, but ...

Did mine last summer. As Roger says there is a steel pin you have to remove. Can't remember exactly where it is, but was pretty obvious with the reservoir removed.
