GTC on Ebay

Hi, should have added every chance the front seal is shot on that box which would require removal for repair.

GTC on Ebay

Together with manual advance / retard and a starting handle to complete the ensemble!
Plus a man with a red flag to walk in front !

The best answer is a A4LD in it's place. Worth the effort.

LEGAL ADVICE PLEASE

Mark, there's a situation called "tacit relocation" in commercial law. Essentially if you leased on the 1st Feb for example and no notice to quit was given 40 days before that date the lease continues for a further period. Usually a year. I have a cell phone mast lease which works on that basis. Wor...

Understanding my automatic choke

Wouldn't take much more than an hour to remove the engine driven pump and open it up (assuming it can be) check and refit. You can check the pump just by putting a short tube on the suction side into a can of fuel and operate the lever. Hold your thumb over the outlet and the pump will develop press...

Front hub bearing replacement

You could if you really wanted a stiff axle make a sleeve, the inside of which was tapered to suit, the outside being parallel and sized to the inner bearing. Press that on then slide a close fitting sleeve over that. Shim as required for end float of the hub. The inside sleeve could be retained wit...

Front hub bearing replacement

The spacer can't fit the taper other than clearance. Anyone that's tried to match machine tapers on a lathe will know the problems far less in the field ! The parallel ends for the bearing have enough extra to hold the spacer and allow a certain amount of end float for shimming. The act of clamping ...

Modern engine and gearbox replacement for Se6b?

You're unlikely to get anything from the past 20 years that will transplant with it's electronics easily. I don@t know if the Ford Explorer sold over there but the 4L pushrod engine and A4LD gearbox with a Megasquirt ECU is the direction I went. Lot's of spares being easy for both albeit from the US...

Locks

I have filed blank keys to fit existing barrels. Takes a magnetflying glass and a bit of care but can be done. You just file the key one keeper at a time until they are flush with the barrel. You can then take said key to a cutter for extras. A good locksmith can do so but you won't like the price !...

Ignition Questions - Breakdown!

I use the Velleman K2543 kit. Two in an ali box.
Takes five minutes to change from one system to the other and if you leave the condenser in the distributer albeit disconnected then you have three options !
All for thirty quid !

Oil pumps

If all the above is basically correct then they are offering a pump which has integrated in the casting a higher rated PRV. A PRV is not a pump ! It can't be described as a "high pressure pump" Not sure how a change from say 60 psi to 80 or even 100 psi could effect gaskets and seals. If they can't ...

Oil pumps

I think they may mean higher volume. Assuming nothing else changes (bearing renewal etc.) two pumps the same size and quality will achieve pretty much the same pressure at any given rpm. A higher volume pump would mean a higher pressure at the same rpm. IF below the opening pressure of the relief va...
