Re: Soon to be Owner any advice?

Looks nice but check for service history, regular oil changes and service work. Get your head under it and look for scabbed up rusty suspension components, oil leaks under the engine, gearbox and around the diff. Being a Ti, check out the rubber fuel hoses next to the brake reservoir, they often cra...

Re: Swoakes Sabre Ti Sprint Car Intercooler

With the IC sat almost horizontally just below anti-roll bar level do you think I will need a cover over the IC to deflect radiator heat :?: When I tested different Ti intercooler setups, any position rearward of the radiator resulted in an intercooler that was almost too hot to touch. As an alumin...

Re: Scimitar values

Owners of assets may indeed like to see the value of that asset increase. Property prices are a key example as owners shouted hoorah when the prices went through the roof, but you wouldn't hear many people say it was fantastic news if alcohol tripled in price or eggs went up to £1 each over night, l...

Re: The Plastic Shed

Must be either some junk / gunk in the sump getting sucked onto the end of the strainer and restricting uptake. Or a blocked oil return passage meaning oil's getting pumped out of the sump till the sump level drops below the strainer, yet when the engine is switched off it slowly drains back down. E...

Re: Audi TT seats -what else ?? -will they fit an SS1 ????

Geoff, theres a yard filled with cars near you, get down there and have a nose around to get a first hand idea of various seats. What are you looking for in a seat? Lateral support, comfort, weight saving, vibrating heated arse pads or a fancy pattern? It seems there is not a vast array of seats alr...

Why do you want to change your SS1's seats Geoff? If you want comfort, don't drive a turbo charged plastic go-cart.. :)

Re: Curborough Test Day Tuesday 26th March 2013

Couple of questions chaps.

What goes on at the test day, ie how much track time do you get?

Is it open to standard road going Scimitars or are there certain requirements such as race spec safety equipment, kill switches, special spec helmet etc?

Is it 'members only'?

Taa!

Re: The Heynes Sabre 2 Saga

Don't forget that the guy AJL is effectively trying to sue is just an innocent party who was trying sell a used car.. Maybe from the guys point of view the car was just as he described, as he saw it. Everyone looks at things differently and what one person sees as fine could be viewed as poor condit...

Is your thermostat in back to front? Try running it with no thermostat, get coolant flow then? Else try bypassing the rad by joiining the top and bottom hoses, is it flowing now?

Do it right and do it once, get all the Turbo Gaskets from Nissan and save yourself the grief of substandard gasket failure, you can't buy better than Nissan ones. As for oil filters.. I use Mahle but take your pick from this lot, just don't install a FRAM! by old bean » Wed Mar 14, 2012 9:25 pm For...

Re: What Have I Done!?

With the intercooler installed like that I'd say that it was only a matter of time and boost before that engine went into melt down. The metal intake pipe sitting above the exhaust manifold will have been soaking up heat like the billio and the intercooler will have been hot enough to fry an egg on ...
