SS1 vinyl hood

Not my listing, but I have just bought a hardtop from the same seller that I'm collecting on Monday (actually I'm driving my SS1 up there to fit and bring back) If anyone convinces the seller to end early and wants me to bring it south to the Midlands with me let me know https://rover.ebay.com/rover...

SE5 with V8 engine for sale

I'd second what has been said above and would also pass on my sympathies - do not let this go for £1200 unless you are absolutely desperate for the space - worth £2k at the least providing nothing horrific is going on underneath.

Help, Torque settings

I had to brake out the dremmel to take some material off of the inner wheel casting on the N/S as it was ever so slightly catching on the caliper. Mark did warn me the wheel castings are a bit of a lucky dip! IMG_20190427_172735.jpg A bit of shimming between the disc front face and hub pushed ...

Help, Torque settings

Thanks Jim. Sorry to drag this one out, just wanted to make sure before I drop the car back down and start driving. I checked the freeplay after tightening them down earlier and it felt OK with the tinyist amount of movement rocking the wheel along the vertical. In my paranoia I've checked them agai...

Help, Torque settings

Brilliant, thank you. My bearings have two inner races that seem to butt up to each other (see pic) IMG_20190428_194344.jpg and the stub axel has 2 steps, 1 where the upright casting begins and another where the thread starts. IMG_20190428_194405.jpg So, are we saying best judgement here? If so I ma...

Thank you both, 210nm translates to 154 lbft, I thought that seemed a bit tight for taper bearings, however this is an assumption as without popping out the seals I can't tell what the front hub bearings are. I'm extremely greaftul for the advice but just wanted to confirm 210nm was the intended fig...

I've ...

SE6a clearout ... free stuff

Hi Andrew,

I'd stick my name down for the Wolfies if no-one else is in dire need of them? I've got a man in the area in the next couple of days and he could collect one evening after 18:00? :D

SS1 to MG Metro Turbo Brakes....just a quick checklist

Good afternoon all, So my standard Metro calipers are looking a bit ropey; on my last run out deciding to pull me quite forcefully to the kerb under heavy braking. Closer inspection of the caliper revealed the seals were perished and seal retaining rings looked like a hamster had been chewing on the...

SS1 MX5 conversion....hopefully

So, the MX5 has made the trip from sunny Blackpool to Middle Earth. It appears the coastal climate has not been kind to it - rot pretty much everywhere you can see, and a lot more places you can't (sorry, the picture doesn't do that statement justice) - its abysmal and a sad sight on a car that has ...

Oh and thanks Richard! Something in my impetuousness I overlooked, but its counterclockwise I believe so I think we're all good.... other than getting the prop adjusted - I'll be interested to see the difference in diameter - if nothing else I can use the SS1 and MX5 props to fashion the correct cou...

SS1 MX5 conversion....hopefully

Thank you all so far for the feedback - unfortunately I'm committed to buying the 1.8 VVT 2.5 now, it was far too cheap to let it slip away - to be honest at £390 its worth it alone for the leather seats engine and gearbox! Thanks Jim for the kind offer to view your mock up - (just FYI I do have a g...

SS1 MX5 conversion....hopefully

Good evening all, Having spent the last few months giving the SS1 a once over, new crank oil seal and usual servicing its high time she rolled out of the garage. Unlike some of my previous rolling resto's (that never ended up rolling) I've figured I need to get at least 1 year of fun out of her.... ...
